Provincetown has been recognized as one of America's
first "Art Colony". Today, that heritage continues to
survive. Many of the country's most remarkable artists have made
Provincetown either their home or a stop along the path of their
careers. Although the east end of town is referred to as the Gallery
District, art galleries are found all along Commercial Street. Friday
nights are the traditional nights for openings to new art shows.
Provincetown galleries are a wonderful tour of a
huge sampling of art from impressionist to modern art. All art forms
can be found from erotic to incredible landscapes.
Art collectors from all over the world have found
the Provincetown Art community a must see and enjoy.
